Spend beautiful late summer days in Piedmont

Piemont, Weinberge im herbstlichen Orange
With an average of 15°C in October it can be quite chilly in Piedmont. Nevertheless, this region of Italy is definitely worth a visit in autumn! Piedmont borders France and Switzerland and is beautifully situated at the foot of the Alps.
The region around Lake Maggiore is particularly recommended. The leaves turn red and nature around the lake shows what it has to offer before winter. Long walks or a boat trip are particularly recommended here. Not to be neglected are the cities of Langhe e Roero and Turin. In Turin you will find great culture and can explore castles and a great old town, among other things. With the pleasant autumn temperatures the beautiful region also offers perfect conditions for hiking because from short walks to long hikes, there's something for everyone to enjoy. But Piedmont is also perfect for cycling.
Piedmont is also known for its great cuisine. Because this is the home of the world-famous "Barolo". It's a dry red wine that is one of the best wines in the world. But the popular Alba truffle also comes from the region. Late autumn is harvest time making Piedmont a popular destination for tourists.

Cosy autumn days in the Netherlands

If you like it a little cooler the province of Zeeland in Holland is the place to be! The region is not only a great destination in summer, it also offers beautiful nature during autumn holidays. The coastal landscape consists of several islands and beautiful diverse nature.
In autumn, the first winds start to blow and there's hardly any other place where you can better watch the migratory birds gradually making their way to the warm south. There are plenty of places to stay overnight. Whether with a sea view or not, there's something for every camper to enjoy.
Usually crowded towns like Domburg or Westkapelle and even Renesse are no longer overcrowded in autumn. And so you can relax with a cup of tea and maybe enjoy a slice of Dutch cake. But the town of Zierikzee is also woth a visit. There are many shops and a typical market square lined with pubs all around. But not only the city centre is worth a detour but also the harbour promenade. You'll not only find the typical yachts but also some mussel boats that are still in operation and harvest the mussel beds of the North Sea early in the morning. Fresh mussels and of course fish can be enjoyed on the terrace of a restaurant on the promenade.

Autumn Hikes in South Tyrol

South Tyrol is perfect for a little adventure on long weekends. But a longer autumn holiday can also be enjoyed here. Autumn feelings arise in South Tyrol, as the forests turn golden yellow and there are still plenty of sunny days with up to 20°C at this time of year. The mild climate invites you to hike, cycle and soak up the sun.
A special highlight in South Tyrol is the "Törggelen" season. It begins as soon as almost all the grapes have been harvested and the vine leaves turn golden yellow. The locals even call this centuries-old custom their "fifth season". Here, leisurely autumn hikes are combined with culinary delights. Where chestnuts and wine grow, wine taverns and farm taverns open their farmhouse parlours from the beginning of October to the end of November. The innkeepers serve South Tyrolean delicacies such as homemade Schlutzkrapfen, dumplings, Surfleisch and Hauswürste with sauerkraut, sweet doughnuts and roasted chestnuts. Of course, we recommend to trhy the wine from the region as well.
A particularly beautiful hiking trail is the Kastelaz hiking trail. It's located close to Bolzano, offers great views of the Tyrolean lowlands and leads through the beautiful vineyards of the region. With a duration of about 2.5 hours this short hike is perfect for the whole family. You can find the detailed hiking route here.

Relaxing days at the Baltic Sea

An autumn vacation at the Baltic Sea with a camper van means empty beaches and the chance of a beach chair without having to get up early in the morning. In addition, the unique nature of the Baltic Sea once again shows everything it has to offer. When the sun is lower in autumn you can experience a fascinating play of colours over the Baltic Sea. A walk along the beach becomes an experience for the senses. In places, the sun breaks through the almost threatening dark clouds and bathes everything in a very special light. Those who like to take photographs and paint should not miss this natural spectacle.
In addition, the kilometre-long beach of Warnemünde offers perfect conditions for kiting and surfing in autumn. At this time of year, there are often days when the wind blows from northerly to westerly directions and at a speed of more than 15 knots. Ideal waves for surfing and pleasant water temperatures attract many athletes during this time.

Wine Tour in Germany

Eine Straße umgeben von Weinreben
Autumn means high season for winegrowers and wine lovers and Germany offers many great routes through the vineyards.
The 204-kilometre-long Tauber Valley Wine Route not only allows you to experience 3 wine-growing regions but also offers beautiful nature between vineyards and lovely little towns and villages. Along the course of the Tauber, the wine-growing regions Baden/Area Tauberfranken, Franconia/Area Mainviereck and Maindreieck as well as Württemberg/Area Tauber meet and thus offer a lot of variety. You can start your tour in the Baden area in Wertheim and from here you can enjoy the ride along the wine route to Niederstetten in the Württemberg growing region. Numerous wineries, winegrowers, winegrowers' cooperatives, towns and villages worth visiting await you along the route.
Nature in the Tauber Valley is particularly beautiful in autumn as the vineyards and trees slowly turn yellow-red and the last warm rays of sunshine shine over the slopes. Here you can relax, soak up the sun and unwind.
